The Reed EQ is an equalizer made by Reed for use with the Reed optical cartridge, with RCA input, RCA and XLR outputs, and a 6.35 mm headphone output. Its signal path uses a discrete audio op-amp with a class A output stage, passive inductors for equalization, symmetrical left/right channels with passive signal inversion, and gold-plated signal-path PCBs; its power supply uses autonomously charged battery packs for isolated cartridge-LED power and three separate transformers. The machined-aluminum EQ unit measures 330 × 330 × 80 mm and weighs 5.3 kg, while the separate power-supply unit measures 340 × 330 × 110 mm and weighs 10.7 kg; output voltage is 600 mV at 1 kHz with a Reed SF cartridge, output impedance is 47 Ω, and compatible headphone impedance is 32–600 Ω.
