The Sutherland SUTZ is an analog step-up transimpedance unit for low-output moving-coil cartridges with less than 20 ohms internal resistance, raising their output to moving-magnet levels for use with an MM phono stage. Its active transimpedance gain stage is based on the first gain stage of the Sutherland Dos Locos phonostage and provides five internally adjustable gain settings; it is not compatible with MM or high-output MC cartridges. The SUTZ operates on 120 VAC, with 240 VAC available by special order, measures 17 × 2½ × 13 inches (W × H × D), weighs 15 lb, and is priced at $3,800.
