The STAX SR-009D is an open-air electrostatic earspeaker manufactured by STAX, using a push-pull sound element with a large round shape and MLER (Multi-Layer Electrode) fixed electrodes. It has a 5–42,000 Hz frequency response, 110 pF electrostatic capacitance, 145 kΩ impedance, 101 dB sound pressure sensitivity, and a 580 V DC bias voltage. The detachable cable uses an OFC conductor in a parallel six-strand, low-capacity wide configuration, with genuine sheep leather on the ear-pad contact surface, artificial leather around it, a 2.5 m cable, and a 452 g ear-speaker weight.
