The Ortofon 2MR 78 is a mono phono cartridge designed for playback of 78 rpm shellac records, with a low-form-factor housing for turntables and tonearms such as Rega and two-screw mounting without spacers or modifications. It uses a spherical diamond stylus tip and an Ortofon quad-coil motor system with split pole pins and a strapped output that delivers the same signal from both pole-pin sets for mono reproduction on stereo playback systems.
