van den Hul
The Grail SB
The Grail SB is a balanced phonograph preamplifier by Van den Hul, with three inputs: two for moving-coil cartridges and one for moving-magnet or high-output moving-coil cartridges. Its topology uses coil-only RIAA equalization, separate amplifier sections and circuit layouts, automatic moving-coil input matching from approximately 20 to 1,500 ohms, Gyrator-based power supplies, and coupling capacitors omitted from the signal path where possible. It uses a printed circuit board with gold conducting paths and microphonics-reducing seating, selected-wood equipment feet, delivers a maximum undistorted output of 25 Vss with 330-ohm output impedance, and consumes 7 watts.
