8381A SAM Adaptive Point Source Main Monitor
The Genelec 8381A is the flagship model in Genelec's "The Ones" family, a five-way active studio monitor built on Point Source Continued Directivity (PCD) technology with an Adaptive Point Source design intended to allow near-boundary placement without compromising imaging. It combines a coaxial midrange/tweeter driver, a Quad Midrange System, a front woofer, and a rear-ported Double Low-Woofer System, all driven by external 3U rack-mount Class D amplifiers that are individually factory-calibrated to each cabinet, with system calibration and directivity control handled via Genelec's GLM software and Smart Active Monitoring (SAM) DSP.
