The Technics SL-1000R is a reference-class direct-drive turntable system. It uses a coreless direct-drive motor, a heavyweight-class turntable platter, a separate control unit, and a high-sensitivity tonearm. The unit measures 531 mm wide × 399 mm deep × 188 mm high and weighs 40.2 kg; its cabinet has high damping, and it uses silicon insulators.
