Pioneer
SX-1980
Introduced 1978$1,295 MSRP
The 270Wpc monster receiver that topped the late-1970s power wars, weighing in at roughly 78 lb. Fully restored examples now sell for several times the original price; unrestored units almost always need power-supply capacitor and protection-relay work.
