The HANA-Umami Black continues the brand’s legacy of “Brilliant and Gorgeous” sound.

The HANA-Umami Black is a moving-coil phono cartridge designed by master cartridge designer Masao Okada-san of Excel Sound. It uses a diamond cantilever and an “OKD” high-efficiency moving-coil generator with an integrated pole piece and rear yoke, an inverted U-shaped front yoke, and a neodymium-iron-boron magnet. Its 2 mm square hybrid carbon armature comprises 78% carbon-infused nickel-iron and is hand-wound with 30-micron 4N high-purity copper wire; the cartridge has a 0.3 mV output at 5 ohms and an Urushi lacquer finish applied to its aluminum body by vapor deposition.
