Totaldac
d1-unity
Introduced 2023$12,500 MSRP
Designed and built in France by Vincent Brient, the d1-unity is a discrete, non-oversampling R2R DAC using 100 hand-selected 0.01%-tolerance Vishay Bulk Metal Foil resistors per channel, sold direct and through a small dealer network with all repairs and upgrades handled personally by the designer — the definition of small-batch, direct-order manufacturing. It entered Totaldac's current "Unity" architecture generation, succeeding the earlier d1-six/d1-dual lines, and has been reviewed by multiple specialist outlets including Positive Feedback and Twittering Machines.
