3R Black Star

The 3R USB Renaissance MK2 Black Star is a USB signal conditioner made by Ideon Audio that re-drives, re-clocks, and regenerates USB signals for computer audio systems, DACs, and ADCs. It uses cascading technology, a separate power supply for the digital core, a low-jitter femto oscillator, four asynchronous endpoint buffers, and a programmable microchip with on-chip USB signal boost and correction at the input and output of the re-clocking process. Specifications include USB 2.0 High Speed at 480 Mb/sec, full PCM and DSD compatibility, a 7.5 V DC input via a 2.0 mm jack, 600 mA ultra-low-noise 5 V USB output, OS operation with USB stack support and no special drivers, and dimensions of 55 × 2 × 7 mm with a weight of 100 g; its components include OS-CON ultra-low-ESR conductive polymer aluminum solid capacitors, low-noise regulators, and a low-phase-noise jitter oscillator.
