Ampsandsound
Red October XL SE
The Ampsandsound Red October is a 300B-based personal-audio tube integrated amplifier with a single-gain-stage, zero-feedback, single-ended topology and a 12AX7 input tube. It uses point-to-point wiring, turret boards, tube-rectified dual-mono power supplies, separate power and output transformers, Jupiter foil-wax coupling capacitors, and a 24-step attenuator; transformer taps provide five output impedances for headphone matching. Inputs comprise single-ended RCA and transformer-coupled XLR connections, with headphone outputs and 8-ohm speaker binding posts delivering up to 8 W RMS at 8 ohms and 6.2 W RMS at 32 ohms; the 10 Hz–24 kHz bandwidth is specified at 1 W and −2 dB.
